FlappyFins game on Kindle Fire: Cannot enter in your name

4/24/2014

FlappyFins game (version 1.0) on the Kindle Fire

Description:

I’ve tried a lot of Flappy Bird clones.  Most of them aren’t that good.

This one I downloaded today is actually kind of ok.

It’s called FlappyFins.  The premise is a little different.  Instead of spastically hopping your bird up and down, you kind of help your bird as it is being pushed through the air.

I’ve found a few bugs, however.  There was one that I found egregious enough to write down.

After you complete a game, you are given an input box where you can supposedly enter in your name for a leaderboard.

But, the problem is, it doesn’t work on the Kindle Fire.  When you click on the input box that appears under “Congrats!  Enter your name,” the input box disappears as the Kindle Fire keyboard UI rises on screen.

I paid more attention to this than to the fact that the game screamed “You Loose!!!” at me.  Who are you calling loose, FlappyFins?

Steps to Reproduce:

1.     Download FlappyFins on a Kindle Fire
2.     Start a game, then die
3.     Click inside the input box that appears under “Congrats!  Enter your name”
4.     Note that input box disappears as Kindle Fire keyboard UI appears

Result:  There doesn’t appear to be a way to enter in your name after finishing a game of FlappyFins on the Kindle Fire

Expected:  You should be able to enter your name after finishing a game of FlappyFins on the Kindle Fire

Repro Rate: 5/5

On a Kindle Fire, click inside of the input box under "Congrats!  Enter your name"

Input box disappears.

Typing does nothing.

Candy Creek Android game - exiting out of game using the Kindle Fire's back button results in a "stopped unexpectedly" error message

Date: 04/14/2014

Candy Creek game (version 1.0) on the Kindle Fire

Description:

I just downloaded a game called Candy Creek onto my Kindle Fire.  The game is like Flappy Bird, but instead of a bird you send a winged carton of chocolate milk through an obstacle course of candy bars.

Anyways, there’s a funny little crash with the game.  If you use the Kindle Fire’s back button to exit from the game, and back into the Amazon Marketplace where you purchase the game, you’ll be presented with a notification that the game crashed.

If you exit out of the game using the Kindle Fire back button, you’ll be presented with a “Sorry” message that says, “The application Candy Creek (process com.iigemu.CandyCreek) has stopped unexpectedly.  Please try again.”

This is easier to show than to described, so please just see the attached screenshots.  This is the first time I’ve seen this with a game on the Kindle Fire.

Steps to Reproduce:

1.     On the Kindle Fire – Select “Apps” – Select “Store”
2.     Search for “Candy Creek” in the app store
3.     Download “Candy Creek” – launch the game using “Open”
4.     Exit out of the game using the Kindle Fire’s back button
5.     Note the “stopped unexpectedly” error message

Result:  Exiting out of “Candy Creek” using the Kindle Fire’s back button results in a “stopped unexpectedly” error message

Expected:  Exiting out of “Candy Creek” using the Kindle Fire’s back button should not result in a “stopped unexpectedly” error message

Launch Candy Creek from the App Store on the Amazon Kindle Fire.

Exit out of the game using the Kindle Fire's back button...

You'll be presented with a "stopped unexpectedly" error message - this isn't common on the Kindle Fire after exiting from games in the manner described above.
