Big F Bomb: The sample images won’t load on the Kindle Fire

Description:

12/30/2011

There’s a hilarious sounding app called “Big F Bomb” that’s available to download on the Kindle Fire.

Oddly enough, out of the great many apps I’ve been perusing on the Kindle Fire, the sample images for "Big F Bomb" won’t appear/load on my Kindle Fire.

I’m not joking, out of the numerous apps I’ve checked out, I’ve always seen photos appear in the market place, except for this "Big F Bomb".  If I go and select photos for “Big F Bomb” on my Kindle Fire, I see nothing but a rotating circle, that never goes away.

Hope it is not gremlins in my Kindle Fire, on the web I see that there’s sample pictures up….

Repro Steps:
1.     On a Kindle Fire, look up an app called “Big F Bomb”
2.     On a Kindle Fire, in the Amazon Appstore marketplace, select the “Photo” tab for “Big F Bomb”
3.     Note lack of sample photos

Result:  On my Kindle Fire, I do not see sample photos “Big F Bomb”, when I select the “Photos” option for “Big F Bomb”, a never ending loading circle appears

Expected:  If “Big F Bomb” is lacking sample photos in the marketplace, they should be added

Sample images, not appearing on my Kindle Fire.

UPDATE:

Images mysteriously return???

CamGun: Game available to download on the Kindle Fire requires a camera to run

Description:

“CamGun”, a game available for download on the Kindle Fire, requires a camera to function.

If the user downloads “CamGun”, as I did, wasting a dollar.  The application returns the user the marketplace, with a tiny error message on screen.

This error message states: “Cannot start camera.  Restart Camera service or restart phone.”

This seems to go against Amazon’s own guidelines for the Kindle Fire, which states that apps available on the Kindle Fire, “Cannot require a gyroscope, camera”, etc.

Repro Steps:

1.     On a Kindle Fire, download a game called “CamGun
2.     On a Kindle Fire, launch the game “CamGun
3.     Note the error message of: “Cannot start camera.  Restart Camera service or restart phone.”
4.     Read Amazon’s Kindle Fire terms of service which prohibit applications from requiring a camera

Result:  There’s an app which is currently available for download on the Kindle Fire called “CamGun”.  This app requires a camera to use, and won’t function on a Kindle Fire.  This appears to go against Amazon’s Kindle Fire TOS

Expected:  “CamGun” shouldn’t be available on the Kindle Fire, if it is in violation of the Kindle Fire’s terms of service.

I know, I know, the Amazon Appstore doesn't know if it's a supported device or not.  Then why write something like that in Terms of Service?

Amazon's Terms of Service for the Kindle Fire say that a Kindle Fire app must not require the use of a camera...

Purchase CamGun for a dollar, if you dare.

Application will kick user out, with this error message.

Kindle Fire App Store: 2 images lacking for BallTapp! in the Amazon Appstore

Bug discovered on 12/29/11

Description:

There’s an application up in the Amazon Appstore called “BallTapp!”.

In the “Photos” section for “BallTapp!” there is the area where 3 descriptive screenshots for the application are supposed to be displayed.

The problem is, that with “BallTapp!”, 2 of the 3 screenshots are blank.

Went looking for Xssential Studios on the internet, but I only found this blog.

Repro Steps:

1.     On a Kindle Fire, or on the web, look at the two blank images displayed for the “BallTapp!” app

Result:  The Amazon Appstore displays 2 blank images as sample gameplay images for an app named “BallTapp!”

Expected:  That the “BallTapp!” app will have 3 legitimate images displayed in the Amazon appstore.

This is how it looks on a Kindle Fire, see the 2 big and blank rectangles?  Not cool.  Would piss of Sony if this were a PS3.

There is an app available in the Kindle Fire store called “Facebook Connector”.

Expected:  That the “Facebook Connector” app available for the Kindle Fire will not crash if a main menu option is selected.

Question:  Why have an “Upload by Capturing” option if the Kindle Fire lacks a camera at this point?

On a Kindle Fire, download and launch an application called "Facebook Connector".

Select an "Upload by Capturing" option that is visible as soon as the application loads.

After selecting the "Upload by Capturing" option, the application crashes.

Ba-da-doom, ba-da-bing.  The application crashes.  Why would an app that requests access to your phone's flashlight be available for the Kindle Fire?
